Irrelevant here but when Mboya was killed, Muliro drove two lorries full of maize to Rusinga to feed mourners. The man walked throughout the compound up to the farm talking to no one in particular in bukusu shedding tears profusely. Jotham Nyukuru, the ODM trustee and Muliro’s aide (Now in Kenyatta hospital yet to regain conscious after an operation) gave me the translation “Mboya! I told you this criminals were up to no good. Look what they have done to you. Wooi wooi your children, whom will they call father! Mboya you are very stupid, very stupid. Look what you have done to your people! I told you many times but you thought you knew everything!” Bla bla. The man was holding a spiritual moment with a man he understood.
Similarly, when Rails Odinga brought the bulls he also went into a frenzy, actually, the only leader who shade tears that day. He did not speak to Luhyas because he spoke in Luo addressing Wamalwa Kijana in his casket. I was not close enough to hear him but I can tell what he said knowing their history. Bukusu leaders led by Kombo and Dr Kituyi denied Raila a chance to speak at the funeral, Wamalwa will never forgive them. A tiny politician called Wafula buke was quoted on Standard Newspaper condemning the two Luhyas for that crime against both Wamalwa and Raila.
