Building concrete jungles in Nairobi is actually a good thing

Why? It opens new Kileleshwas , Loreshos, Muthaigas, Karen’s……How exactly? Because they are concentrating these highrises in the city, there will not be a high demand for such in surrounding feeder cities eg Kiserian, Tigoni etc. And such cities already have high land values. So it will only be practical for owners to develop single family homes. The high prices of land in such cities will repulse low income families.

So new enclaves with high end homes will develop. In fact, they already are. Especially if you are a distance off the main highway.

If only we followed the original blueprint for expansion of Nairobi… We are at the mercy of corrupt City Council officials who will license anything so long as they get a cut of the loot.
