Build when you are young or old?

It depends on personal goals. But I would advise the young people to build when you are young. Also because of inflation. It will be cheaper to build not and your property will appreciate in value with time. That way you can free your future resources for educating your children and other projects. Also you get to enjoy your house when you’re young, not when confined to a wheelchair. Your children can enjoy the home for most of their childhood. Most Kenyans build retirement homes when they probably have less than 10 yrs to live

You are wise.

No one would want to build a home when old, pesa ndio shida kaka

Kila mtu aishi maisha yake bila kusumbuliwa

and how old would that be?

Futa hii post kabla uvamiwe endless missiles by the expert who not long ago beat up 7 KDF officers while drunk on pilsner!

Honestly you have to choose one and stick to it forever. Kuenda ushago kujenga after retirement is stressful plus lonely after renting all your life in a city. Utakufa tu faster.
I’m at that age where my parents, aunts, aunties are all at that stage. Nimeona wote wanasuffer. Retirement home being peace ni uongo. It’s just pure loneliness and faster decaying.
The ones who always lived in their own rural home since before getting old, bado wamejaa energy and aren’t sitting still all day being bored and unhealthy.

So really, hizi lifestyle mbili (urban living and moving around vs being rooted in one spot) shouldn’t be mixed imo. Wazee wanaweza ishi town bila issues kama wamezoea

I disagree. We have starlink, piped water and electricity now. Add in some self defense capabilities and a nice vehicle and bam.. life like a druglord.

105mm howitzer battalion, we are here.

What does that have to do with loneliness and boredom? People I’m talking about also just sit still all day watching tv and looking at Whatsapp groups.

It has everything to do with boredom and some things to do with loneliness. I can drive to Nairobi/Eldoret/Nairobi/Malindi on the weekends, and back home in Embobut on Monday during rush hour. It’s the reverse of what elders do, but it works for me.
