the words you will never hear from a man of cloth "help the poor and needy, and God will bless you’ or ‘take your offering to your church’ The message is always give me and you will be blessed
This is how people get robbed in church. Such useless sentiments thinking I AM is a tap you open and close when you “want things” or when you want material stuff to show off.
Not everyone who calls me Lord will enter the Kingdom.
Even if God blesses you, you should not take the glory , by pointing out how much you gave and how painful it was for you. God will not share His glory with any man.
Mathew 6
4 Your giving should be done in secret. Your Father can see what is done in secret, and he will reward you.
Kutoa ni moyo, usambe utajiri. - Giving is a matter of the heart, don’t say it is a matter of wealth.
The perfect giving isnt the giving you give in order to get something back. Like how you are told , give and it will come back to you . The highest form of giving is the one Jesus spoke of when He told His Disciples, freely you have received , freely give. God loves a cheerful giver, not a begrudging one or a manipulated one. God wants you to give and go away with joy in your heart , that you used what God has blessed you with to say help somebody less fortunate. The fulfillment you receive from giving should be reward enough. Perhaps the only person God expected to give painfully was the father of faith, Abraham at Mount Moriah where he went to sacrifice his son of promise Isaac, who he had waited for for over 25 years. Sisi wengine God expects us to give cheerfully, kama utaenda kulilia chooni ama ofisini after umetoa kama huyu anatoa ushuhuda. Dhabihu impendezayo Mungu is the one from a cheerful giver.
I have left churches due to clear manipulation from pastors , for example at one time I attended a certain mega church and the pastor said that even if the money you have is for school fees or you can take a loan pledge to give it. I was like how can God ask you for your parents money paid as fees or loan money when in the Bible it clearly says that the lender is the slave of the borrower and that a Christian should owe nobody anything except a debt of love. You can find someone giving tons of money to church projects but they cant be kind to the people they live with like their spouse or their workmates. Because their giving to church is in their mind, a means thru which they can receive from God basically buying God’s blessings. Giving as a way to manipulate God into blessing them. Didnt Jesus say, in John 5 23 Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. That is God for you, He looks at your heart rather than your gift . If your heart isnt in the giving ,unaenda kulia after you give, this is not an acceptable sacrifice before God. As the Prophet told King Saul, obedience is better than sacrifice. Your sacrifice is worthless to God if your heart is not right with God.
Isaiah 1
10
Hear the word of the Lord [rulers of Jerusalem],
You rulers of [another] Sodom,
Listen to the law and instruction of our God,
You people of [another] Gomorrah.
11
“What are your multiplied sacrifices to Me [without your repentance]?”
Says the Lord.
“I have had enough of [your] burnt offerings of rams
And the fat of well-fed cattle [without your obedience];
And I take no pleasure in the blood of bulls or lambs or goats [offered without repentance].
12
“When you come to appear before Me,
Who requires this of you, this trampling of My [temple] courts [by your sinful feet]?
13
“Do not bring worthless offerings again,
[Your] incense is repulsive to Me;
[Your] New Moon and Sabbath [observances], the calling of assemblies—
I cannot endure wickedness [your sin, your injustice, your wrongdoing] and [the squalor of] the festive assembly.
14
“I hate [the hypocrisy of] your New Moon festivals and your appointed feasts.
They have become a burden to Me;
I am weary of bearing them.
for once i agree with you. I would however recommend you cease using the amplified bible. it is a false book.
get yourself a good KJV1611. that is the Authentic Word of God.
You are clear to the point. Most people nowadays are suffering from the trap of brainwashing.
