Human beings are, at some level, just clothed animals. Only God can protect you against them once the demons in them rise against you. This is why it makes sense to worship God in truth and spirit, especially with regard to the matter of making sacrifices. This is why our ancestors, who used to live close to all manner of other animals, including human animals, saw sense in making sacrifices and pouring libations. Some of this stuff, you can only deal with it at the spiritual level.
