Now One Of GEMA Parents Apologize to Ruto
Parents of Billy Mwangi who was allegedly abducted just over a week ago, on Monday, December 30, sent an apology to President William Ruto over their son’s online activity calling for his release.
In a video sent to kenyans.co.ke by Mwangi’s close friend, the parents asked for pardon after Billy disappeared due to what many pointed to as Billy’s posting of depreciating AI images of Ruto on his X account.
While lamenting about their plight since Billy’s abduction, the parents, Gerald Karicha and Regina Wairimu, promised to take the necessary action to discipline Billy if the President sanctioned the release of their son.

“We are very sorry to the offended parties over our son’s portrayal of the President in a negative way through the images seen on social media," the parents noted.
“If our son is in the hands of the government, we would like to request for his release. We will discipline our son accordingly and show him the right way,” they added.
It is alleged that Billy was abducted by individuals believed to be officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) at the behest of senior individuals in government while he was awaiting services at a barbershop in Embu town on Saturday, December 21.
Billy was one of three individuals allegedly abducted over the posting of the images with the others being Bernard Kavuli and Peter Matuti. Just like Billy, the whereabouts of Bernard and Peter remain unknown close to a week after their abduction.
The parents admitted they were not privy to Billy’s online activities pleading with his alleged abductors to give their child a second chance after his perceived mistake.
“We would like to categorically state that we were not aware of our son’s business online. We did not have any idea that the boy (Billy) was doing those things. Let them (the abductors) give him (Billy) a second chance, release him, and then as his parents, we will have a sit-down with him,” Gerald stated.
Billy’s parents decried the torrid time they have had to endure since their son went missing over the festive period adding that they barely celebrated Christmas.
“Mr. President, we are going through hell. Christmas came and went without us even noticing that it happened. On Christmas day I went to buy medicine only to find Embu town deserted. That is when I realized it was Christmas day,” Gerald noted.
The aftermath of Billy’s abduction triggered a massive demonstration in Embu town with area residents and the business community joining hands demanding for his release. Business and transport operations were paralyzed as chaos erupted on Friday, December 27.
President Ruto, on the same day, proceeded to pledge an end to the abductions while speaking at the Homa Bay Governor’s Cup at the Raila Odinga stadium in Homa Bay.
