Balloré Logistics to Let Go Hundreds of its Kenyan Workers - Kenyan Wallstreet
Global logistics company Balloré is set to let go hundreds of its Kenyan workers citing the change of the transport business in the country. In a memo…
Sad, this company was started in Africa as father and son came for avisit and found people in extreme poverty. The son asked the father, “how can we help these poor people” and the father replied " no way you can be in a position to help all these people at once"
When they went back after few years the son had an idea.
Transport company can employ so many people from the managers, drivers, fuel attendants, mechanics, spare parts vendors, lodging owners, mlolongo "girls"and many more…
And that’s how they expanded to Africa.
I saw them transporting these windmills and has a lot of friends there.
bollore was among the first companies to partner with sgr. they are doing that to protect their own interests. its not business as usual. kenya inatombwa, and companies have to protect themselves. bollore walifanya hesabu zao kitambo
It is sad to see people let go, however these are the realities of the business world where businesses have to adapt to changing models, after all I highly doubt the organization was ran as a charitable cause (help poor africans) that ploughed back returns to the community.
They wanted a return where many people will benefit.

Didn’t Bollore charter a regular SGR cargo train? I believe it’s a case of changing the business model.
