Boeing took a $1 billion initial charge to cover costs related to the grounding of its 737 MAX jets following two crashes killing 346 people within five months. In the first quarterly results since the latest crash involving the aircraft, the company also said it would suspend full-year profit and sales forecasts, as well as share buybacks. It reported a profit of $2.2 billion. Analysts have estimated the grounding will ultimately cost the plane maker $3 billion, including payouts to families of the crash victims.
I do not know whether they will feel that hit but it serves them right.
