BIOS download for hp Dc7800 desktop

There’s this legacy hp dc7800 that’s misbehaving. Can’t boot into any hard drive. Just a cursor blinking on a black screen. Tried tinkering with BIOS settings, swapping hard drives, etc but wapi. Am suspecting is sth to do with BIOS.
Problem is am not finding the BIOS download suitable for the mobo. Any links? Thanks

You sound like you have a lot of experience in this stuff but I killed a mobo once in your situation. Just three things please:

 1. HP tends to have the cosistent set of beeps on error. What is the error code beep on POST?
 2. dc7800 not dc7900? Sure?
 3. I see the BIOS is alive and allowing you to access and tinker: is floppy disabled and how is boot order at boot options?

No beeps, boots normally until after the POST screen.
Floppy isn’t disabled.
It’s a dc7800

Disable it. Boot order?

Change boot order!!!

@thesavage @Brian boot order is set to hard drive, USB drive, CD drive and ethernet…in that order.

Nothing wriong there. It appears you have already tried booting from different hard drives bila success. I am not a specialist but my tempation would be:

 1. pop in a windows installation cd
 2. do a fresh new isntallation.

Buuut if you have to do bios:Try this link for win7 64 bit bios

Installed and reinstalled windows severally. Am gonna disable Floppy and if that fails I’ll try the link. Thanks for your suggestions

Try a live cd. Then test the hard disks. Bios gets corrupted in very rare cases.

Try resitting the RAM. I had a machine give me hell Hadi I found myself changing the heatsink paste…only to find RAM was faulty…check the number of times the caps lock key is blinking

Were you using hp desktop at the time and did sick ram give you the ram error beep code on POST?

Yep. Though there was no beep it was more of flashing caps lock

thanks. nice to know. cheers

Rest them, problem didn’t go away. Tried to install Linux and it worked just fine. Totally unable to understand what sorcery this machine is pulling off.

installed Linux and it worked just fine.
