The National Youth Service could have lost up to Sh10 billion in a new scandal that has hit the organization.
Those involved are said to be senior government officials who colluded with other people to steal the money from the NYS.
Some are said to have used proxies to register companies that were used to siphon millions of shillings.
Most of them were paid without doing any work. It is understood that the money was paid out soon after the last scandal which cost the organization sh1.6 billion.
“The money was paid over a long period and through phony companies,” said senior government officials aware of the scandal.
In January 2016, Richard Ndubai, a long-serving public servant and a former Permanent Secretary, was sworn-in as the new Director-General of (NYS).
It is under his tenure that the new scandal occurred.
Some of the companies that were paid in the new scandal were also involved in the first one and are reported to have lodged a series of claims, which were classified as pending bills.
The Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji and Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti have already swung into action.
According to multiple sources, a number of high profile people at NYS and at the ministry of public service, Youth and Gender have already recorded statements and could be charged in court in a matter of days.
President Uhuru Kenyatta is reportedly very upset by the new revelations and has vowed to deal with anyone linked to the scam.
That money dedicated to mold the future of our youths, and soon we gonna be divided along tribal lines while discussing this issue.
Why do kikuyus feel superior when some of them are involved in theft ?
My deduction from this story and events surrounding Gov. Waiguru in 2015 is that it is highly likely that she was not involved in the NYS scandals that she was accused of. NYS and generally the government is full of cartels. Look at the Nairobi County Government and all the drama. These people are too powerful.
That’s very plausible, hizi cartels have been their since Kenyatta era.
James bond was indicated into tenderprenuership time za KANU, Moi and Kibaki left him, and Uhuru will leave him there.
Corruption is too entrenched in Kenya for any leader or institution to claim they will fight to stop it.The time to stop it or fight it with sincerity would have been when Narc came into power in 2002, but we all know what happened after Moi’s loyalists were kicked out and the incoming ones just continued from where they had left .Perfecting the systems to steal without attracting any major public outcry.
We are doomed, don’t even start to hope you will see any high profile individuals in jail any time soon.
