UDA fanatics will swear that Ruto took the mantle when Kenya’s situation was at it worst state than what Kibaki found after taking it from Moi.
Lakini ukweli ni kwamba Kibaki inherited a completely DEAD economy. There were no roads, no equipment at hospitals etc. Everything had been looted by Moi’s cronies.
Ruto amepata nchi ikiwa na infrastructure mingi but kisingizio sasa ni Madeni. He will use the Foreign Debt excuse to molest Kenyans for the next 9 years
Ruto can do well if he makes unpopular decisions to cut the fat from government.
He’s sent mixed signals so far, some promising signs (dropping subsidies, new university funding model) but also not so promising ones (50 CAS’s, reviving expensive mega-dam deals)
Ruto, goes without saying…Hii shida yote tukonayo haikuanza August 2022. Uhuru/Rao walipokora ile wangeweza. Kibaki was smooth …nikama kupata gari ikiwa na mafuta na kifunguo, yako ni kuendesha tu. Ruto amepewa gari bila license, battery, mafuta, cracked windscreen. Na kwa Kila corner kuna karao. Anyone who took after Uhuru would have a hard time. He seriously shafted us with IMF, Sasa ona Sasa, Ruto ameambiwa lazima anyonge 10 parastatals that are non performing. Do you have any idea how many guys can possibly go home, directly and indirectly. Kibaki had a easy time, it would have been easier we’re it not for the accident.
I think the only reason Moi handed over power was because he was awake to the fact that KE was on the deathbed. There was no working sector from agriculture, industry, fishing, commerce, education, tourism, infrastructure… nothing. You cannot say that about what Ruto inherited.
Ruto.
Kibaki was the [COLOR=rgb(184, 49, 47)]BEST performing President in Kenya’s History so far. Let’s see if Ruto can outdo him. Kama ni mtu kutumia degree yake then Kibaki used his Economics Degree.
Seems there are a lot of toddlers here. Moi had run Kenya economy down such that the IMF came in and forced Moi to trim his cabinet. A “dream team” headed by Dr Leakey (a Moi foe then) was constituted by the same IMF to manage the technical arm side of the government and make key economic decisions. Massive public service retrenchedments followed.
And I think we should tell @sani that the ten trillions stolen by jskslenyeluwere within those scandalous rise to power are the major contribution to the mess we are in including the loot of his former boss . I feel pain when udakuda fools are trying to sanitise the fool
I read somewhere that Moi and his band of thieves used to report only a quarter of the collected revenue. They would then tuck away the rest of it and lvie like kings while the rest of Kenyans lived from hand to mouth.
Kibaki wouldn’t need to do much to help such a situation but just report the right figures. Ruto may have bigger challenges arising from problems he cannot divorce himself from. If someone stole from the Uhuruto regime, Ruto is part and parcel of the baboons that stole from the granary and nearly burnt it down.
