Best Boxing/MMA movies

Here is my countdown of the best MMA/boxing movies I’ve seen.

  1. Never Back Down 1-3 - MMA

Micheal Jai White comes off with some really good MMA action. I find him to be a very average actor but this guy can fight.

  1. Undisputed 1-3 - MMA but in a ring in a prison

Micheal Jai White also features here but the fights here are so damn crazy. Purely prison fights

  1. Real Steel(2011) - Based in the future where robot boxing is a really big deal. If you enjoyed Pacific Rim and Tom Cruise’s Edge of Tomorrow(2013) you will love this.

  2. Creed(2015) - Boxing

This Rocky continuation of sorts did not disappoint. I can never forget this statement: “…throwing body shots like he’s Rocky Balboa, going upstairs like he’s Apollo Creed.”

  1. Rocky(1-5) - Boxing

This is by far the most famous sports movie and equally as good. The acting was top notch and far ahead of it’s time.

  1. Warrior 2011 - MMA

Warning: DO NOT watch the trailer

There is one hell of a performance from Tom Hardy(i.e. Mad Max Fury Road main character && the bane on BatMan: The Dark Knight Rises) on this one.

The movie was almost 2 and half hours but I kept hoping it was longer.

I really wanted to put Rocky on this spot and many will argue that it should be but this steals my heart. It is the most emotional and non cliche sport fight movie that I have ever watched.

I found this to be like wrestling on steroids and with an actual story. Plus it’s the only MMA movie here that has actual good acting.

In fact, I will admit that I shed some tears here.

DO NOT watch the trailer. It will fuck your whole experience. It is one of those movies where the trailer has the full story.

Curious to hear what you guys think

Forgot to add Snatch(2000) on the list. Very funny and entertaining. If you know you are a bit slow don’t watch this as most of the things will fly above your head

Documentary, I would prefer Facing Ali, When we were Kings and Hits of Tyson, then watch BRAWLER, that’s when you know BOXING is one of the most ESSENTIAL Ingredients in any close quarter combat or any Mixed Martial Arts fight even in Knife fights the stab should move like the boxing JAB

I have very fond memories of Rocky movies when I was growing up. Recently I watched Creed in theater during the day on a Friday with just a handful of viewers but the cheering was loud you would think it was full. I’m glad they have found a way to keep the franchise going.

creed director will direct Black Panther movie. cant wait to watch it

Currently enjoying the boxing documentaries more, about the lives of the greatest fighters i.e The Cinderella Man (James Braddock), George Foreman, Marvin Hagler, Pound for Pound (Sugar Ray Robinson), America’s Hero Betrayed (Joe Louis).

To add to the list, Million Dollar Baby.
