Basic Industries That Would Propel Kenya To Middle Manufacturing Economy

  1. Apparel (Shoe & Clothing)
This would absorb countless youth in its various sectors. Desigers, tailors, models, cotton farmers, silk worm farms etc we don’t have to import used clothing anymore.

  2. Electronics Assembly
Phones, Tvs, Computers, toys. Many young people leaving our colleges and universities would quickly qualify as assemblers. Reading simple schematics is a no brainer. Ethiopians are already doing it at Transsion Holdings making Infinix, Tecno and ITel

  3. Agro Industries
This is the goldmine of them all. Everything that is grown in Kenya can be value added. From potatoes to cassava to coffee and tea.

If these were implemented unemployment would fall to 1%

There’s enough for everyone…
But not enough for one man’s greed.
Someone would rather import what we can manufacture and pocket the billions, rather than have industries to manufacture the same set up in 254.
That’s how we killed,
Our once vibrant textile industries,
Tea and coffee sector,
Sugar sector,
Livestock (mbuloti maguta maguta killing ranches),
Leather industry,
etc.
254 government policies are some of the best in the world, but when it comes to implementation, greed takes over somewhere down the the line.
So sad.

We have the skills to manufacture… But the greed to kill these manufacturing dreams is greater and of bigger determination.
The Nyayo Pioneer vehicles… there really is no valid reason why we don’t have them on our roads today.

I have been thinking about making vodka from potatoes since they are cheap and widely available.

Our dairy farmers could process milk to cheese, butter and ghee for export. That is how New Zealand survives - it relies on export of dairy products.

Agro is so wide. Imagine biogas and its components, tractors and all their implements, bees, fish, farm tools, chemicals. Its a billion dollar sector. Evryone in 254 angekuwa job

unfortunately the only time the government will be interested in the sector is when they want deals to supply expired fertilizer to farmers, and when they are eyeing the tea billions handled by ktda,

So sad our government is full of greedy incompetent thugs.

Kyuma ya panya wewe, ni kama hatujui. Sasa unataka tudo? Kyuma hii. Kyuma wewe.

A performing agro sector would bring down the cost of electricity. Every sugar mill would be producing its own electricity and feeding the supplus to the national grid. Maize and cane based ethernol would greatly reduce petrol prices. Maze we are so rich yet so poor at the same time.

Govt policies and our legislators greed is what is killing our economy. No one is interested in developing the country but rather to satisfy their insatiable greed

With these thread I see a brighter future Kenyans. A right step toward prosperous Kenya. Admin pin this thread.

I respect people like Chris Kirubi, at least they have manufactured something in their life. Some people are lazy and in a rush to get rich quick, they have no time to manufacture anything so they steal money for maize and dams that would have helped their people. But we love them all the same coz “ni wetu” . Ask Sanitize and Spear.

Who is stopping a maize farmer from turning his maize to unga and selling in supermarkets? Who is stopping a potato farmer from turning his potatoes to crisps and sell kwa supermarkets. Why is coconut milk on supermarket shelves in nairobi imported from malaysia while coconuts are plenty at the coast? What is stopping a person from bungoma from keeping 2 dairy cows and making 50k in monthly milk sales instead of going to nairobi to be a watchman earning 15k and living in a slum?

NB: All industries are started and run by private individuals - from Mercedes Benz, toyota, tesla, Nestle etc. The governments work is just to set rules and regulations. You should be blaming kenyans for lacking innovation, not blaming “govt full of greedy thugs”.

I agree …bt lootal hakai kufanya hii kazi na wheelbarrow ideology

And when you start being successful the same govt through kra, nema etc wanatokea kukamua bila lube.
Sometimes you do not need to be successful, sometimes when they see you starting big projects is enough for govt kukukamua until you fail.
Look at how they have harassed keroche for many years.

The govt needs to provide an enabling environment to enable businesses to thrive.

Hapa Kenya its like businesses are dead before they start. Look at our taxes, look at license costs & other weird regulations put to block a peasant from breaking the glass ceiling.

Taxes & licenses should be there, but not so prohibitive that they choke businesses.

REDTAPE. Regulation za Kenya ni Mwenda. Sijui NEMA, Sijui Tax ya tax.

That is why BBI is giving young Kenyans a 7yr tax holiday. BBI ni maisha bora.
