The reversal of occupier and defender changed when the Donetsk Republic was proclaimed. Russia has been helping Donetskians to chase out Ukrainians from their land. The fighting was hotly contested and the defeat of Ukrainians will signal the permanent location of new boundaries. Losses have been high on both sides but all indications are that its Ukraine that has taken a bigger hit and is no longer able to defend Bakmut. Russians and Donetskians have already taken nearby town of Soledar which has a lot of tunnels. The tunnels have a lot of tactical advantages and Ukrainians/Nazis had to flee from the region. Slava Rus!
Putni is screwed either way. The West can and will play the long game, Russians especially the elite are already fed up shida ni tu the problem of falling out of a window if you speak up.
