The former Foreign Affairs Minister said his defection to the Orange Democratic Movement was a major milestone in his political journey that started in 1988.

“One of the key things that has been my guiding pillar in politics is loyalty. My decision to finally join ODM has been painstaking and a difficult one to make,” he said.

Ongeri, reading from a written script, said the ‘loud and unanimous voice’ of the Kisii and Nyamira people compelled him to “join their party of choice”.

“It took me time to listen keenly to your desire to see me join a party of the Omogusii. Now I assure you I’m here and here to stay,” he said amid cheers from the crowd.
