It is what it is man. You deploy to a place 5,6,7 times. You watch your brothers get killed or crippled by guys who just melt into a crowd in the marketplace and you never see them again. You never get that closure. After some time you stop seeing the locals as people and you only see them as the enemy. That’s the harsh truth. Any soldier who tells you otherwise is a liar. However in the case of the SASR, it was down to the piss-poor leadership that was actually encouraging war crimes.
