If you know you know
.flac is lossless still don’t know why it has never replaced mp3 despite being in the market for years
I still have my original 90s and early 2000s CDs plus my Sony HiFi. Hip Hop and all Old School music sound the best on CD.
-CD quality is the gold standard/SI unit , but not the best. Nowadays kuna high resolution audio which is better than CD quality
-Probably 99.99% of people can’t tell the difference between 320kbps mp3s and CD in a blind listening test, let alone lossless compression vs CD …so some discussions are largely theoretical.
- For 99% of people our equipment is not up to scratch for CD quality audio… Ni kujaribu tu. You’d need state of the art equipment(DAC, amp, speakers, room treatment/acoustics ) to take full advantage of CD quality…
…
Mimi I concluded that if I can get flac that’s perfect for me…if I can’t I’ll stick to 320kbps Mp3s. Siwezi mind going higher but it’s pointless I think.
Size maybe.
Convenience. 99% of the time the stuff I listen to I do not need or I will not notice the extra fidelity. Because I am either listening in the car, at the gym or its a podcast, over blue tooth. So MP3 satisfies the need at the lower file size.
Back then nakumbuka home tulikua na jvc 3 CD changer…manze the cd sound quality was top notch. Ngoma iko na guitar ulikua unaskia nikaa inachezewa hapo uko, clarity like no other. The down side ni cd ilikua inabeba ngoma 12 maximum
Kweli CD na those old school hi-fi zilikua on another level.
I remember listening to E-Sir boomba train on my uncles Sony CD changer and I was blown away bana. The clarity was top notch
