Gabon striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang narrowly beat Ivory Coast’s Yaya Toure to win the Confederation of African Football’s player of the year award. In a vote of coaches and technical directors of Caf member nations, Aubameyang earned 143 points, with Manchester City midfielder Toure, 32, the runner-up with 136 points. Aubameyang, 26, is the first player from his country to win the award. Ghana and Swansea midfielder Andre Ayew, 26, was third with 112 points. Aubameyang is the Bundesliga’s leading scorer so far this season, with 18 goals in 17 league games.

Arsenal have made a £44.6million transfer offer to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to a top Spanish journalist.

The Borussia Dortmund star is the form striker in Europe and the Gunners have been linked with his services since the summer.

And after rumours that Arsenal were in talks to sign him, Spanish reporter Kike Marin says Arsenal now have now made a £44.6m offer.

Marin was the first journo to report on Arsenal’s deal for Alexis Sanchez and he’s broken a host of other exclusive content in recent years.

If he’s interested i believe he can. Both Ozil and Sanchez were around/above 26 when he signed them.

As far as I can remember, the closest a Kenyan has come to winning Afric Footballer of the year was [U]Peter Dawo [/U]in 1987. At the time he finished 7th in the voting.

And before that Nahashon Oluoch “Lule” who also finished in the top 10. At the time Lule was still in secondary school
