They need to do something about upload speeds and also latency, otherwise cable wins.
Satellite connection lazima iwe na latency (delay) kubwa, but since these satellites ziko Kwa lower orbits the delay is still negligible.
Ordinary satellites used for TV are extremely far away. 36,000 Kilometers above the equator, that enables them to have a fixed position above the earth at all times and hence a very wide footprint. They are expensive as fvck to make and launch. To prevent orbital decay they have to keep on firing their thrusters from time to time and once they exhaust their fuel, the fall back towards earth and are vaporized during re-entry.

I think starlink is good if you dont have access to 4g or fibre. Kama you are deep in the village or running a lodge deep in the bush then starlink iko sawa.
Though hio option ya starlink ya 1300 iko sawa even for those in cities.

You’ve started seeing the light.
Starlink is actually cheaper and faster than safaricom. Starlink ya ksh1300 gives you download speeds of over 200mbps and uploads of 40mbps, while safaricom fibre package ya ksh 4,000 gives you download of 20mbps and upload ya 15mbps.
Iam actually switching to starlink coz its the better option.

Our proximity to Starlink’s ground station might be the culprit, their main ground station in Africa is in Nigeria hence the higher latency.
What speeds are you hitting. I have a location 100km from Ugenya, I am considering Starlink.
- Starlink haiwezi zimwa na gava kama safcom
- Upload speeds za starlink zenye nimeona ni around 10 mbps which is good enough for most people unless you’re uploading large files in HD/4k eg YouTube content creators.
- Latency ina affect nani mwingine isipokuwa gamers?
- Starlink’s biggest issue for me is kit acquisition and the fact that their cheapest unlimited option is like 6500. With fibre installation is often free or cheaper and payment options can be up scaled or down scaled depending on one’s pocket
