I have come to abhor one culture that is ingrown in this our nation (sic). Yaani kila mtu anakupimanisha juu chini. You invite someone to your circle and he/she will ask 1 million questions or make those comments una wacha ukishangaa.
-Eh, hii tv yako ni clear, ulinunua pesa ngapi?
-Nasikianga hizi gari hukunywa mafuta sana, wewe hujaza na how much?
-Hii shirt ni poa, si unishow mahali ulinunua!
-Watoi wako huenda hiyo shule, nasikianga school fees huko ni such and such.
Then Kuna wale wa kukuweka chini.
-Maze sijui mbona unaishi ruaka, kwani wewe ni peasant?
-Wacha kununa, siku moja pia wewe utakuwa bigwig!
-Hii wachia masonko bro, hii si level yako.
-Si you buy a better car msee…
Etc.
I once worked with a guy who belittled Toyota 110s when a colleague bought one. He didn’t even own a car then. Guess what? His first car was a 110 and couldn’t stop telling everyone how his was a better version of the same!!!
I also don’t care. It’s just that hii imekuwa culture ya watu. Yaani hakuna kuishi maisha yako, lazima life iwe Nyumba 10 initiative, relatives are worse.
48 laws of power… Law #10
“Infection: Avoid the unhappy and unlucky.”
You can die from someone else’s misery - emotional states are as infectious as diseases. You may feel you are helping the drowning man but you are only precipitating your own disaster. The unfortunate sometimes draw misfortune on themselves; they will also draw it on you. Associate with the happy and fortunate instead.
