Mary Wambui Mungai owes Equity 8.2b, wamechukua hiyo Glee Hotel yake and put it on the auction block. @DukeOfKabeteshire told us she was old money, but ilikua tuu ma loan.
In her defence, Ms. Wambui has attributed her loan defaults to the freezing of bank accounts belonging to her companies , following a government decision to halt payments for rice supplied to the Kenya National Trading Corporation (KNTC) between 2022 and 2023 .
But in saving grace, recently alipata tender ya 5b from CA to build a digital superhighway so maybe ataokoa property yake.

In her defense kufika level Fulani lazima utumie huge loans. You don’t become a billionaire without leveraging other people’s money.
Hata mimi najua nikigraduate from selling plots to property development hapo big loans lazima nitacheza nazo.

And she keeps herself in inner political circles. Huge Uhuru and Ruto financier. There’s a time she owed KRA 2b, they had an arrest for her. But waliingia settlement.

@Simiyu22 , what happened to your idea of owning a passenger shipping line plying the East African coast?

Bado iko. Been working on it is why you haven’t seen me here much. However the marketing costs are extremely high. I sat down with several marketing guys ( radio, tv, entertainment) and the figures they floated were in the tens of millions, over the first year. This is where I underestimated things.

East Africa yes.
I’d be a regular customer.
I can just imagine hopping from Lamu to Malindi to Mombasa to Tanga to Pemba to Zanzibar to Dar.

Prime target for Al Shabaab pirates. This isn’t the French Riviera or the Caribbean.
