NAIROBI, Kenya, April 26 – Some 10,000 Ukambani leaders and professionals on Tuesday met President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House, Nairobi, to discuss development of the Lower Eastern region.

The meeting, attended by Deputy President William Ruto and several Cabinet Secretaries, draws leaders from the three Ukambani counties of Kitui, Machakos and Makueni.

The gathering of Ukambani leaders follows a similar meeting with leaders from Kitui county two weeks ago at State House, Nairobi.

President Kenyatta and Deputy President Ruto, together with a number of Cabinet Secretaries, first held a meeting with elected leaders from Ukambani before joining the thousands of other leaders for an all-inclusive meeting at the State House gardens.

Now you know!

But I smell lots of exaggeration! 10,000 men and women, really? Si hao ni wengi sana? Hizo logistics? State House security itself?

Ukiona vyaelea vimeundwa. What the public usually sees is the final product. The amount of work that goes into making something a successful is a lot. One slip and your position two will forever be counted as a lose.

a couple of buses, planes, helicopters and hoverboards… I am just from the hangar and parking

Our people are prone to exaggeration, I have seen a lot of this in pastoralist communities where a herd of 70 goats can be anything from 200 to 700 hundred. Aren’t you surprised by the numbers quoted in cattle raids? They also use rainy seasons to allocate age, for instance a sixty yr old person will easily be put at a century plus… Though I do not know how or whether this is related to the thread

I only saw 4.

This reminds me of the mind boggling figures that used to be bandied about during the Ethiopia-Eritrea war. Going by their figures both countries should have current populations of less than 100,000 each. But again, Usipojipigia debe, watarajia nani akupigie?
