These young men lost their lives for this great country.
They are barely 25 years old.
Have you ever lost relatives who were serving this country in the security services?
These young men and their families will be forgotten in a few days.
Let’s not take the peace we enjoy in our cities and towns for granted , young men are putting their lives on the line everyday to secure our borders.
May they rest in peace.
What bugs me is that KDF is deep in Somalia fighting wars that this country has no business being in while our boarders are not even secure and police getting killed by Al shabaab has been a regular occurrence at this point.
Let’s think about this.
Which one is easier to do as a terrorist?
a) run through open field
b) run to the fence, scale it or cut it down then keep running?
Which one is easier to patrol as a border guard soldier?
a) an open field
b) a fenced area where you can notice any holes and act on it
Security enforcement is a series of steps that when they work together help in strengthening the whole. This fence in my opinion, helps the border guards patrol a little easily than patrolling an open field. No Walalo herders straying in Kenyan soil because some of those herders are al shabaab
I agree. And then reinforced by a mtaro of about 6 foot on Kenyan side so that you cannot flee by driving through if you manage to bomb the fence to bits.
Question One. Which one is easier to do as a terrorist?
Answer: There is no difference between an open field and a fence that can easily be penetrated, will it make financial, economic or psychological sense with such a fence? remember we are dealing with terrorists who are smarter than burglars.
Question Two. Which one is easier to patrol as a border guard soldier?
Answer: Repeat on answer one, you need to make it abit harder for terrorists, maybe the DMZ for North South Korea will make more sense
This is not the one. This looks like someone personal home fence.
The Kenyan side has a six feet trench to prevent vehicles from passing through. Its also patrolled by KDF. The are two fences with razor wire in between. Even if you climb you will land in the razor wire and leave all your skin, gashes, deep cuts and you will bleed to death before you try the next fence.

The Somali side also has another 6 feet trench to prevent vehicular penetration.

KDF is installing motion sensors to alert them remotely of any human and vehicular movement so that they converge at that particular point. Once completed then unrestricted entry will end. Even those who will attempt to breach will be limited by what they can do or achieve by this simple fence.
