For the airshow to return to Wilson then stakeholders and KAA need to implement the airport reconfigurations and development. The fact that stakeholders own facilities directly within the airport make it hard to plan its expansion. Over 10 airlines own properties and buildings at the airport each undergoing their own expansions or neglect according to their finances. KAA facilities are small and constrained. Right now only a new watch tower is being built. In 2016 stakeholders and KAA agreed to consolidate facilities under one command and negotiate for take over of the facilities. Until that is done then congestion, overlapping and confusion will continue. This is made worse by litigation by private companies over facilities. An airshow will need a lot of parking and space to make it competitive to other airshows in the continent. The other option is moving it to another airport.
Yeah kwa bush inaweza kuwa fiti pale Orly Air Park…
Wilson doesn’t have enough parking for its ever growing fleet of small planes using it.

KAA would wish to consolidate all the hangers (parking-flying schools-service centre) into bigger hangers by possibly demolishing the current hangers. That will create room for a new passenger terminal, security services hangar and rescue services. With the reconfigurations it will improve turnaround, security and service. Even uchumi supermarket is a target of acquisition. Its a big ask and it needs total cooperation between stakeholders otherwise any litigation and over the top quotation wouldn’t allow it to happen.
Time is ripe for county to have its own airport.
Like Nakuru County needs an Airport.
A good airstrip or small airport. I’m not sold of the urgent need though. I don’t think they have the demand or traffic needed. The dualing of Nairobi-Nakuru road is more urgent and will have a bigger impact.
Good Airstrips to small airports will do for now, but with enough land allocated for future expansion.
Counties should start enhancing aviation, northern kenya is ideal to host some good regional aviation schools.
I don’t mind counties building small airports of between 100 million to 1 billion depending on traffic estimates. Anything above that isn’t necessary. Kericho county has set aside 100 million for the same however I know it will cost more. Building the runway is the most expensive thing. A runway can have six feet deep base to tarmacking since heavy planes with tonnes of loads with be constantly impacting it as they land. Then landing lights, control tower and various aviation equipments. The passenger tower is not cheap as well. 500m-1 billion will do. In Kericho this has split the residents kabisa. Those who support and those who don’t. Bit at least they are debating development than politics.

How comes you are behind this development.Airport construction plans are underway.Lanet barracks already gave a certain piece of land for that function
