I don’t think it is destroying it, but rather it will force the private developers to up their game, especially in terms of interior design, and sell or rent at cheaper price…From customer’s point of view, it is good to have many options
It is an interesting sector and there appears to be unknown source of funds that sponsor projects whose uptake normally below par yet the developers do not seem to flinch… meaning that they do not finance from hard earned sources or the known commercial credit lines… If it was normal funding, it could have collapsed a long time ago…
so how can ksh 8M maisonettes eradicate slums?
why take our salary to provide luxury goods to a very small group of already wealthy Kenyans?

Kama kitu ni mzuri ni mzuri, hii ya affordable housing is one of them, it might not solve the slums problem now, but it is certainly a move in the right direction. And by the way, I interact with many gachagua diehard followers, na wanakubali hii ya affordable housing ni kitu fiti
Employees who are being forcefully deducted the money to build the houses should be the ones allocated the houses. You cant deduct people money to build houses then sell the houses to strangers.

My only problem with Affordable Housing is that it’s PRIMARILY created to provide manual labour, I have never settled my mind around that vibe.
So why are we creating very expensive permanent concrete jungles so as to provide short term temporary kibarua? Is the cost benefit analysis tying up?
The silver lining is that it will create a market correction for the exorbitantly prices houses and housing schemes in urban areas. Also it will attempt to solve the massive subdivision we have in the country where pple are converting agricultural land to commercial. Then the greedy theft that has been associated with those schemes.
