next year naplan kufanya ukuima wa kitungu ( red bulb onion), i am planning to do it in around nakuru. villagers farmers etc naomba mnipe advice ama ideas especially ya vitu nahitaji kutilia manani wakati wa upanzi.
this will be the first time am doing this and obviously i will be starting on small scale.
anyone who has ventured in this sector please advice on the best practices, what to be cautious about, areas to emphasize etc etc

JambaF1…and get a good worker. Your success are failure will depend on this directly. Joint farming Kenya on Facebook and download the guide. Average costs per acre 150k start to finish. Output 350k-500k. You’ll never kosa market for onions, better still when stored well can go up to 6months. Don’t try anything before you do a soil and water sample. Cropnuts Ltd (adjustment coopers ltd) hapo kangemi at the bridge going towards Lions eye clinic will do that for you for like 3,500. Japan get poa na maji. Start small and learn from mistakes.

one question though will i have to use middlemen when i sell my produce?

Very good area for Onions
I’m transplanting mine(russet f1) from amiran in a few days, only advice is sell the produce at the farm, learned this the hard way, all the best

You can’t be a farmer and a broker at the same time, something has to give. I took mine to the market and ended up making huge loses, uza kwa shamba whatever the price, kitu unafaa kuwa perfect ni timing of the peak seasons
