A Ugandan teenage girl has won the Women’s FIDE master World Chess Tournament. 17-year-old Ugandan Gloria Nansubuga attained the “World Title” at the tournament in the republic of Georgia in East Europe, where the best chess brains in the world convene.
She is now a Woman FIDE master, which is the third highest rank in chess. Nansubuga started playing chess at a tender age of 4 and dominated the number 1 position of Under 14 chess players in Uganda. She then went on to represent Uganda at the youth championships only losing one game to Phiona Mutesi, Uganda’s chess Grandmaster.
Phiona who was the subject of the hit Disney film queen of katwe is a world-famous chess player. Uganda has recently become a chess powerhouse in Africa producing numerous talents. Nansubuga sets a good precedence to young African girls who want to pursue chess, which is largely a male dominated sport.
I hope our Kenyan ladies a few important things from the Ugandan ladies, if they respect Kenyan men and use their brains instead of “uslay queen”, watafika mbali
Most 254 chics kazi ni kuongeza gluteus (mahora ndore) na matuzo ziwe kubwa, no wonder GMO zimejaa kila mahali. After you hit that you realize shes more boring than watching paint dry. Kama dame hana hobby interesting, however hot, athie akiniaraga.
Ever realized that a lot of women in KE dont have hobbies. Kwa CV unaona mtu akisema, dancing, watching movies n.k. At my workplace theres a yoga teacher, a piano player, a footballer list goes on ta imaginee…
Haven’t watched queen of katwe buy would love to know how Ugandans embraced Chess…am sure they are also curious about us with rugby and distance running
