A humongous marvel

World’s Largest Digging Machine
(or wouldn’t you like one of these babies in your garden shed?)

This is the largest digging machine (or trencher or rotating shovel) in the world. It was built by Krupp and is shown here crossing a road in Germany on the way to its destination, an open air coal mine. Although at the mine the treads are unnecessary, it was cheaper to make the machine self-propelled than to try and move it with conventional hauling equipment. Some factoids:
[ul]
[li]The machine is 95 meters high and 215 meters long (almost 2.5 football fields in length)[/li][li]Weight is 45,500 tons (that’s equivalent to a bumper to bumper line of jeeps 80 miles long)[/li][li]It took 5 years to design and manufacture at a cost of $100 million[/li][li]Maximum digging speed is 10 meters per minute[/li][li]Can move more than 76,000 cubic meters of coal, rock, and earth per day[/li][/ul]

I almost thought the real transformers have invaded earth.

The machine is 93 meters tall. For comparison, the Rahimtulla Tower is 84 meters tall!!!

This monstrosity has been all over the place since the Klost days. But I will not begrudge you the novelty of discussing it here afresh

Hehehe!
I see what you are trying to do! But sio wote tulikuwa Klist!

We need this machine to dig coal in Kitui
How much is the cost ;I should procure one and contract it to the government

I thought it was about the largest uncut diamond that was put to auction when I clicked, nice stuff anyway

$100M

There were no takers for that monstrosity… Apparently watu hawana pesa

We must get this monsters for coal mining ,which will be used to generate power to drive Lamu port !

Germans are arguably the builders of the world as we know it! And the Chinese are the best copiers around!

Chinese are able to penetrate all markets,to the standards

 Humongous

Saw a documentary where they had done something similar for the oil sands in canada, but constant break downs forced them to go back to the traditional shovel and dump trucks

Not this isht again; from old klist, ED channel & all discovery channels - world, science, family, history channel…>>>weka kinyo ama uketi …>>>huko

Kwenda ukalale, umelewa sasa :D:D:D
