A Call for Sanity

A Call for Sanity.
A Sermon by Rev: Caroline Kiarie - Thika.

Political hooliganism in places of worship must be unequivocally condemned.

The sanctity of the altar and of all spaces set apart for worship must be upheld at all times.
It does not matter who is invited to speak.
A place of worship is not a political arena, nor is it a ground for politicians to display aggression, trade insults, or seek popularity by tearing each other down, especially while invoking the name of God.

This is wrong.
It is morally wrong.
It is profoundly wrong.

What is even more troubling is that Christians themselves are increasingly being used as political machinery to advance agendas long before we reach the 2027 elections.

The events unfolding now are a clear reflection of how political processes may be manipulated in the future and the instruments that may be used to achieve certain outcomes.
If we are not careful, churches will once again be drawn into this misuse.

This moment therefore calls for church leaders to stand on business to rise with courage and clarity, and to defend what is right, just, and sacred.
Central to this responsibility is the unwavering protection of the altar.

There must be no hesitation, no exceptions, and no compromise, whether the visitor is the president or any other political figure.
The God we serve is greater than political systems, greater than power, and greater than popularity.

Church leaders must ensure that places of worship are not exploited for political ends.
They must speak out and condemn such actions without fear or favour.
However, condemnation loses its moral authority when leaders benefit from the very practices they denounce.
Integrity demands consistency.

This is therefore a call for sanity for the restoration and preservation of moral clarity in our places of worship.
The altar must remain holy.
The church must remain faithful.
And the voice of righteousness must not be silenced by convenience, benefit , or political proximity.
