A bit of Poetry

Dead at Last (Swali/Kithungu)

For long, no love, just being alone

With ridicule, ukasema, that way I was born

In depths of despair, nikachoose not to fall

Mahopes nikajipa, nikachoose ku stand tall

Akili na bidii, those I had

Pesa, a handsome face, none I had

Nevertheless, Ilibidi nimetry

Ilikuwa hard, that, siwes deny

So, nilijua lazima mistari zangu ziwe fine

Ndo atii, akuwe mine

Hassle moja ngumu it were

A show of wit and muscle, I won

Now she’s mine

Now, si huwine na nakudine

Weaving, our love in time

To her, my heart I grant

With hers, as one to band

She’s indeed a fine brand

A beauty so rare

Yaani, ameiva beyond compare

Her eyes, her beautiful smile

Zinapendeza, far beyond a mile

Yee ndo the apple of my eye

Come mchana, come night

Ako always within my sight

Together we form a pair

On and on we dare

Bila worries ya vile wana tustare

We are strong, hawewezi kutu scare

Our soul, mind and heart

Bonded and sealed, a single pack

Ata ukuwe mngori aje, ama ukuwe na luck

This, you can’t tear or part

In case you even try

Muriu hapo ndo utadie

Six feet kwa sanduku utago down

Kufunikwa na mchanga, ukumbe ground

Ndani ya box, cold, rotting, we ni food ya the worm

Juu ya bed, tukimake some love, tunakeep it warm

Composed, stress-free, mapenzi yetu ni tight

Decomposed, kwa ground, my friend unaturn dust

Fading away, ushakuwa past

Forgotten, kwa memory, very soon utakuwa wiped

Same way as first, mapenzi yetu, iko bound to last

Same way as first, kijana, hizo ridicules zako, ziko dead at last
