3G internet: Safcom has Speed, Orange has reliability.

I have used Safariom broadband for as long as I have been on the internet. The last few weeks Safcom has been terrible: NTP on Windows doesn’t work, sudden drop in speeds, IP address change while browsing (WTF?!) and sometimes no connectivity at all.

So I have switched to Orange and it having a connection that stays on is refreshing. But it has one flaw. The slowest upload speeds in the Milky Way. I had a file uploading and the estimated completion time was 352 hours. I know ISPs usually give priority to downloads but this is sad.

Safaricom 3G at its average is better than Airtel 3.5G and Orange 3G at their best

I am tempted to ask: which is the best ISP? I don’t mind Saf but their speeds around densely populated areas are pathetic.

There is no best. From my experience though Safcom has more connection breaks than the others. Unfortunately, they also have 11Mbps download and 3Mbps upload on 3G. 4G is 23 down and 8 up. Airtel is dead to me.

Whenever you try to upload or download large files, your internet service provider regulates your internet speed. (They normally reduce your internet speed). The funny thing is that the ISP can identify when you are connecting to an internet speed measuring platform and initiate a bandwidth burst increasing your service speed only to fool you that your speed is good.

yes but it’s now a bundle.
last time i ever used airtel - that was in 2012/2013.
they are dead dead dead to me. they couldn’t be more deader if they died again today.

I hate Safaricom for breaking internet at the most critical hour, being shylock the jew, and occasionally stealing, but I have no words for airtel. I actually think Airtel and orange should have their licenses withdrawn and given to another willing provider. Seriously Airtel is a joke. Even people who run it must surely be aware that its a joke. Orange people are simply out of their mind: How can you be introducing 3g in 2016? they should just jump to 4g and save themselves the waste. The old version CDMA technology was bullshit. They stuck with it and it cost them alot. Orange can be excused though. We can see where they are coming from compared to others.
