The Kenya Army (KDF), has acquired 3 C-27J Spartan Tactical Military Transport Aircraft (MAT) from Italy.
The Kenya Defense Forces C-27J Spartan military aircraft were acquired for Sh20 billion (S$198 448 276) from Italy in the period between November 2017 and February 2018 and funded from loans advanced to Treasury by private banks.
The KDF C-27J Spartan tactical transport aircraft incorporates the same propulsion system and advanced avionics as the C-130J Hercules Transporter.
The KDF 3 C-27J Spartan Tactical Military Transport Aircraft roles will include troop and materials transport, medical evacuation, paratroops, and cargo loads airdrops, search and rescue (SAR), logistic supply, humanitarian support, firefighting and support for civil emergency operations.
