A family from Eastern Uganda was elated to have reunited with their patriarch who had gone missing for over six decades. One-hundred-and-one-year-old Patrice Okubal set off from his native home in 1957 while aged 45 years. Reports indicate that Okubal left home as an expression of his frustration after losing the numerous gambles he had taken part in.

The man who is of Iteso extraction had been a passionate participant in the epiki gamble game in which he lost all his wealth, as the Monitor reports. According to the Iteso elders, epiki was a reserve for the rich with massive livestock comprising herds of cattle, goats, sheep and chicken. Besides the livestock as the main stake, the men’s wives would also be placed in the game.
