10 Years of Devolution - How Has Your Governor Performed

I’ll start us off with some wisdom.

A society grows great when Old men plant trees knowing they’ll never sit in its shade.

Kenyans as we head to the polls in a few months time. Let’s first reflect. It’s been about 10 years of devolution and many counties have embraced development and change and others not so much so. Governors like Opranya and others have changed there counties for the better.

How can Raila’s backyard be this poor? 10 years of sucking away devolution funds.

A lot of work still to be done. 1st term of 5 years was a mixed bag. Setting up structures and then funding them. Not many governors did well here. That’s why few go reelected for second term.

Devolution lacks enough spending caps. That’s Senate fault. They should cap how much goes salaries, minimum social services and development. I want to see all 47 county assemblies budget removed from devolution and domiciled at senate budget.

Nairobi and Mombasa have performed the worst in devolution.
