Bullsh*t. This is extremely biased. With due respect to all Mungiki victims, Mungiki may not even be in the top 10 list in an honest survey. South American gangs ni moto! I’d also move MS 13 to top 3. It’s one of the largest and most violent gangs in America. It has an extensive international network that expands over El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and the US. In addition, it has at least 10 affiliate gangs. With members’ ages starting from early teens, this gang is vicious! With a stronghold in Los Angeles (west coast) and Long Island (east coast), the gang has also infiltrated affluent neighborhoods in the DMV area (DMV= DC, Maryland and Virginia). I’m writing out of experience, not hearsay. I’ve lived in the area for at least 17 years, and I also have a close friend who works in the Gang Unit in Montgomery County, Maryland. The gang is very active in high schools across Montgomery county, where they carry out several murders every year. Just like Mungiki, they normally decapitate their victims. At time they also beat their victims with baseball bats, and are notorious for torturing their victims before killing them. But, unlike Mungiki which is male-dominated, MS 13 have a sizeable female membership. They use the innocent-looking female teens to recruit new members, and also use the same to lure victims who have been marked for murder. At the higher ranks, the gang is heavily armed and is involved in drug trade and armed robberies.
During it’s heydays in the early 2000s mungiki was a nightmare in Central Kenya and parts of Nairobi like Kayole, Mathare, Dandora. The way they used to conduct their oathing ceremonies to circumcising their women.
Mungiki was highly organized and their structures were akin to those of the military, from top commanders, foot soldiers etc.
Their way of killing was characteristic eg there’s a time they used to behead their victims and place their heads on fencing poles. For lesser crimes amongst themselves they could decapitate an errant member.
All in all ithe wa Michuki (RIP) did an amazing job in crushing mungiki though there are still some remnants who walk with tails between their legs.
