Why charge?

Hey sisters. Am not here to bash any religion or anything am just surprised. So churches have become businesses. So on Wednesday my grandma was laid to rest. We looked for a father to conduct the mass. He asked for shopping worth 8000. His payment was 3000. Matega (that’s the word he used I don’t know what it is) worth 5000. Wine and the bread he asked for 1500. Fuel he asked for 1500(less than half a kilometer).
As for the plastic chairs and tents they asked for 4000.
He comes in late the mass lasts for only twenty minutes with no scriptures read. Ten minutes of the twenty are spent with him giving an old man a lecture because his phone rang. And just like that he leaves. Mind you my grandma has been a member since 1951.

why did you have to look for a father if:

And from all the quotations above, the father you got is a bonoko. so, y’all were conned.

Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness!

I doubt there’s anyone who does more of this than fathers and nuns.

Matthew 25

The Final Judgment
31 “But when the Son of Man[d]comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit upon his glorious throne. 32 All the nations[e] will be gathered in his presence, and he will separate the people as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will place the sheep at his right hand and the goats at his left.

34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. 36 I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’

37 “Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? 39 When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’

40 “And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,[f] you were doing it to me!’

41 “Then the King will turn to those on the left and say, ‘Away with you, you cursed ones, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his demons.[g] 42 For I was hungry, and you didn’t feed me. I was thirsty, and you didn’t give me a drink. 43 I was a stranger, and you didn’t invite me into your home. I was naked, and you didn’t give me clothing. I was sick and in prison, and you didn’t visit me.’

44 “Then they will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and not help you?’

45 “And he will answer, ‘I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me.’

46 “And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life.”

Sorry about losing your gradma.
I don’t see why the father made your lives so hard if she was a member of his church. I think the man is simply corrupt, seeing the other things he did and /or didn’t do. Is it a catholic church? In fact Catholic burials and weddings are some of the longest I’ve ever attended. And whoever heard of any man of God conducting a burial ceremony with no sermon? In fact that’s the essence of his presence-to minister to the mourners. A burial itself is not the hard part; the hard part is putting the family in the right frame of mind so that they can pay their last respects in hope that there’s tomorrow, and life is still good and colourful. That’s why anyone called to such a sombre event must be a real man of God, and must be sensitive to the seriousness of the work he’s so honoured to do. It’s not called a calling for nothing. It were better if he hadn’t accepted to come.

Its not me. I forgot to say copied

Ok. I still think the man of the cloth fell far short of expectations

This one is a business man no longer man of clothe.
