Whole maize flour

Does anyone know where I can get whole maize flour in Nairobi? the stuff they’re selling in the supermarkets is not good for a diabetic like me. Thanks

Not a guarantee, but check Kirinyaga millers hapo town. I heard it moved to Moi Avenue hizo sides za Jeevanjee. Pia izo sides za Embakasi kuna supermarket inaitwa Mhindi Mweusi. Hio area they have everything. Alternatively, Kahawa West, Githurai 45, huwezi kosa small posho mills. You just ask around hutakosa- but for the small ones I think itabidi uende na mahindi

The current trend for diabetics is to eliminate carbohydrates from diet. The effect of “whole maize flour” on blood sugar is still the same

Thank you so much for your detailed response

it’s also about how you eat the carbs …since diagnosis I have not posted hba1c above 5.7

No problem bro. Pia kuna a famous shop huko Githu 44 called “Kwa WaJohn” huuza cereals, sijui kama akona unga but a shop like that lazima wanajua kuhusu unga

My best advice would be buy maize, sort zile zimeoza then take to posho mill. Ukinunua unga ready milled kwa posho mill utashangaa ukiona vitu husiagwa to maximise profit

Mahindi anaeza pata wapi?

It seems you’ve contained it…

@poyoloko ako na kisiagi mwambie unataka grade gani. Lakini ujichunge yeye hu-rape wanaume.

Nunua mahindi uoshe upeleke posho mill

@Gitonga You are right about the effect being the same whether whole or processed. However, carbohydrates are the fuel the body needs to function normally. Eliminate them and there will be some imbalance.

Current trends actually advocate eating whatever your heart desires but in quantities that your body absolutely needs to continue functioning as an organism. It is called Intermittent Fasting. Watch this video (and many more by Dr. Fung) on how to manage, even reverse Type II diabetes.
