The soul is a combination of the human body and the breath of life from God. YOU are a living soul. When you die, you go into a dead state where you know nothing, feel nothing, just like you were before you were born (nothingness).
So you have living souls & dead souls.
Like a charged phone vs a uncharged phone. Living soul is a charged phone, dead soul is a uncharged phone, only God has the electricity to charge us if that makes sense. The electricity without the phone is just energy, and the phone (with software etc) without the electricity is just plastic and metal. The combination of the two is what makes it ‘alive’
