AMISOM command structure is fwucked up. US and Turkey and a myriad of other western players are not part of AMISOM but provide advisory services which limit there actionable options. But still US sends drones to blow up AlShabaab leaders. During El Adde attack, Kenya Air force couldn’t respond because the Airforce was not part of AMISOM, the frustration made Mwathathe send the Airforce and later asked for a change in the T&Cs to allow a military to reinforce their forces that are under AMISOM. The long bureaucracy (UN style) that the brigadier would have to work on to get Geneva to allow reinforcements is convoluted.
