US seeks allies' backing for possible China sanctions over Ukraine war

The United States is sounding out close allies about the possibility of imposing new sanctions on China if Beijing provides military support to Russia for its war in Ukraine, according to four U.S. officials and other sources.

The consultations, which are still at a preliminary stage, are intended to drum up support from a range of countries, especially those in the wealthy Group of 7 (G7), to coordinate support for any possible restrictions.

Among the challenges the United States faces in putting sanctions on China, the world’s second-biggest economy, is its thorough integration in the major economies of Europe and Asia, complicating the talks. U.S. allies from Germany to South Korea are reticent to alienate China.

UPUSSY. :D:D

You can’t sanction China, the world’s largest economy, without hurting your economy, this is a cut your nose to spite your face situation.

:D:D:D

USA is Soo entitled

China is already contained by REALITY …

There is NO way a Taiwan Invasion will succeed … :D:D

China is Resources Poor and Imports 85% of all it’s energy and raw materials ( … Including Water …) and is thus very vulnerable to Sanctions and Blockade … :D:D

Sanctions by who? US and EU? what will happen to their struggling economies if their corporates can no longer sale to the largest consumer base in the world, China. You can’t sanction china without gravely hurting your own economy. The west needs china more than china needs them. The world’s emerging economies and the largest future economIes in the world, like India, have made it clear they won’t participate in western sanctions, so china still has plenty of markets to sell their goods. The world no longer revolves around the west, and the greatest wealth and economies are being created in East Asia, Latin America, and parts of Africa as the western economies and populations plateau.

They can attack the trade imbalance China has over them, like Trump did.

Garbage. The consensus by people with STEM degrees is that China won the trade war

Theoretically that works, but practically you’d realize that the imbalance is a product of US’s declining manufacturing capacity, and that decline can’t be reversed due to internal political and, economic reasons (environmental regulations, cost of labor, declining engineering workforce, etc). China for years been working to decouple their economy from the American economy by expanding their markets beyond EU and US. Conversely, US has been reduced to reactionary tactics that hurt it’s economy than it hurts their intended ‘foes’.

And the EU? Because thread was US asking for its ally’s’ help?

We’ll see.
