Can someone tell me why did South Korea Singapore and recently China managed to get developed while we are still left behind in the stone age struggling with slums, corruption and all manner of poverty? I know someone will say bad leadership and corruption but my question will be why were Chinese Koreans and even Singaporeans able to deal with these issues while us are still stuck with them? what magic did they apply? and what are the chances of Kenya attaining the current status of South Korea or even SIngapore China in the next 100 years? are there any hopes at all with these foolish initiatives like BBI increasing the mps and senators like stupid small county like Nairobi being added 12 constituencies on top of two elected senators? Is there really a hope for this bonobo country? or people be needing a brain transplant over here?

Acha ikue homework kwangu.

Are you seriously comparing China and South Korea to Kenya?

The West needs a source for it’s raw materials…
Africa has the raw materials…
A rich Africa will insist on value addition for these raw materials…
To sell to the West, who need to create jobs for it’s people.
Africa cannot be allowed to industrialize at the expense of the West.

Work ethics & culture.

You started well…but the answer is in your closing statement.
I know there are many like minded people. Naona culture yetu ina change. People are more self-driven than before, we will get there.

The men in those countries are not simps. They have been through wars and other tough times that have taught them to respect themselves. Most African men dont respect themselves. Mzungu akisema jump, wanauliza how high? It has little to do with education or resources, it’s all about self respect.

Finally…someone who gets it.

Waambie there is a reason why Kenyan flowers have to be “repackaged” in Netherlands. Kenya is among the top five largest exporters and Netherlands is #1. Why do Kenyan flowers have to pass through Netherlands to land in other European nations??

Waambie you cant export processed coffee or tea to Europe or America. It is illegal. You can only export raw materials and then they export Nestle and others to you.

Those are the trade policies and deals that Gatheca and other idiots in power are busy signing and ensuring that even our grandchildren’s grandchildren will be at a disadvantage to Europeans, Americans, and now the Chinese.

The first step is to RENEGOTIATE ALL TRADE DEALS WITH DEVELOPED NATIONS.

Do we have to blame someone else for our idiocy and shortcomings forever?

Even if we did, the devil is still on how we distribute and squander our resources.

True. But as I said, the first step is to renegotiate ALL trade deals with Europe, USA, China and other developed nations. It is not the only step but it is the most important one. Africans are not the problem. The global economic system is the problem because it is structured in such a way that resources are siphoned from Africa. African politicians are notorious for signing unfair trade deals just to line their pockets. These deals guarantee perpetual poverty in Africa. China only developed after it started fighting back against American and European corporations. Singapore had a benevolent dictator. South Korea is home to Samsung and LG - two of the world’s leading companies in their respective industries.

  1. Renegotiate all trade deals to ensure that first world nations don’t siphon resources from Kenya.
  2. Have powerful homegrown mega-corps. Instead of enriching Swiss citizens at Nestle, we should have a local Nestle here exporting that coffee to the rest of the world.

Western religion, imagine an Africa without Christianity… What a paradise

So what will they do if we refuse to sell them the raw materials and process/consume them locally?

Renegotiate the trade deal. We shouldn’t export coffee beans. Nestle should set up a plant here and employ 5000 Kenyans to export that processed coffee.

The same thing China is doing to the USA, Europe, and Australia. If they want to access their market, they must set up the factory in China and employ locals. China has control over the market, Africans have control over the raw materials.

Though I agree with this, I think the problem is not the resources themselves but the value addition and technology transfer. For example if we started charging more for our flowers, we will become less competitive compared to other shithole nations that are willing to accept lower prices. Whether it is coffee, tea or even flowers the competition with other third world nations will perpetually keep prices low. So the only other option is to move into new and more complex industries with better margins or add value to existing resources. If a fellow shithole like india can develop a leading biotech industry I believe that there is an industry out there that Kenya can be able to establish a reasonable market share in that can bring in more money than flowers or coffee.

We shall get there when we do.

Daimler employs over 300k people worldwide. Lets assume that most are in Germany at very key positions and the remaining half are just sales agents and other assemblers in other parts of the world. So, a company like Daimler directly solves unemployment in Germany by 200k people. Indirectly, the number can be five times due to a multiplier effect. That single company provides income to at least 1 million Germans directly and indirectly.

South Korea only needed two (LG and SAMSUNG) to become developed.

A country cannot develop without megacorps.

We will soon also have Northlands City and Brookside pia.

The best African brains are poached abroad. They remain there and sell their services for good income and stay. While in Africa the likes of Murkomen, other tribalist are your leaders.

The moment Africa will have competent leaders who will fight for Africans then we will start seeing changes.

Those are Gathecha’s personal property.

Our only hope is Safaricom and homegrown banks. Most Kenyan banks are spreading like wildfire in East and central Africa. That is a good thing. Kenya has a competitive edge in terms of expertise in Banking and Telecommunication. Five Pan-African banks headquartered in Nairobi would do us good.

The problem with banks, esspecially in this day, they will only employ 20 people max. Hapo hakuna multiplier effect
