@Simiyu22 still insists that the principle hasn’t changed :

Wapi ile jinga ya " toyota ya singapore itakufa mapema kuliko ya japan"?:D:D:D

We ni mse was hospitality industry. Understanding engines is not your forte.

Wewe hata gari hauna. Wewe ni mtu wa nduthi. Hukai mtu amewahi kanyaga mechanic store na kununua auto parts.

Unaongea kuhusu gari za 1934 ati the principle is the same, the principle hasn’t changed.
Simiyu can you get serious.

Nunua gari uirushie maji vibaya ukiosha uende uambiwe umechoma sensor sijui gani. Umeua memory ya push start.

Today it’s even worse there are cars you can’t just wash anyhow juu ya hizi digital displays on the dashboard. You kill that touchscreen interface na hio gari haitoki hapo. The car is now a smartphone.

True dat broda

Mimi hata V12 na fix. If only you know. Wacha soon I will start some threads. But sensors is no big deal. Mechanical aspects still power the engine. All sensors do is collect a signal and adjust a mechanical component or send a error code.

Juzi tu kulikuwa na njaruo jinga jeuri by name of @ochithunder . I was following his threads closely juu I wanted to hear the price of repairing his BMW in Kenya.

And the first thing he used to say was he can’t find a qualified mechanic in Nairobi! Which is true. Even in Europe mechanic wamekuwa nadra.

Juu enyewe the modern BMW is one of the most complicated electronic gadgets in the universe. And I could tell he was having a hard time maintaining that vehicle in Nairobi. Halafu @Simiyu22 anafikiria ati mechanic ni mechanic tu, ati the principle is the same.

A deceased friend of mine who used to be a mechanic was a very sincere man. He always told me he could repair any vehicle made before 1995 but ikifika kwa automatic vehicles and ones filled with sensors anawachia dot-com.

If you go buying a 2019 M5 and then taking to a shady tree mechanic utalia brazza. Ochithunder was very right what he was doing. Either take it to BMW Kenya or fix it yourself kama chapa ni strain or its a hobby. Maintaining the car is the key. Alafu invest in a mid-level Obd reader.

Btw do you know you need specialty tools fo fix even a simple BMW ( start even with a torx screwdriver and socket) . Sasa huyo makanika wa Ruai atazitoa wapi. They dont even use Obd readers. Just guesswork. Electronics are PIA even at the dealer in newer Beemers. You find you have to drop your car off and pick it after a week, and the problem pops back again. Hata hao wanashindwa. Kwanza going anything past 6 cylinders you will need a separate job to maintain that car after a certain mileage.

Watu ya Toyora tukae kifande gani?

Wengine wanaharibu gari Kenya ni car wash. And many Kenyans are clueless.

Unakuta mama mbirrionea amewacha porsche cayenne hapo car wash. Ndio ni second hand but still a very complex machine.

That car seat has a very delicate and complicated computer.

So the lady ends up with seats that don’t work but labda hata hajui kuzitumia anyway. The seat keeps sending error codes to the main car brain.

I hear that maintaining a BMW is like maintaining a slayqueen from Westlands.

Toyota, Honda, Subarus , everything Japanese has good engineering for the most part. So reliability is good. German are good if you properly maintain the car. They are over-engineered. It helps if you fix things before they break down ( preventative maintenance). For example check your suspension parts every 50K km and fix if necessary ( cv boots, tie rods, struts…) , Things like waterpump, alternator, sensors like CPS change at 100 K km.
When I say overengineerd, take a look at the following example fixing a position sensor which always fails on .nissans and beemers. On the 3.5L (v6) Nissan, its a easy fix. On a bmw, its a pain. Imagine paying someone.

Nissan ndio hii.

bmw ndio hii

@ChifuMbitika hizi ndio viti huwa mnapeleka zikaoshwa na omo hapo car wash. Na hii ni gari ya zamani kidogo. Many ordinary cars today are coming fitted with heated seats of course cheaper but similar in operation.

Computer ya kiti ndio hizo ana ng’oa hapo minute 7.20.

Na hio unit moja ya kiti moja, one seat, can be as much as 30k used part plus controller. Brand new labda over $1k.
