There Is No Honour Among Thieves

Is there anyone who gets disappointed when sophisticated criminal activities are undone by a snitch?

It was mid-2018 when a convicted narcotics importer met with FBI agents from San Diego and made them a tantalising offer: in exchange for a possible reduction in the importer’s sentence on other charges, would the bureau like a backdoor into the encrypted communications of a vast network of international organised crime groups?

The importer had invested a “substantial amount” of money in developing an encrypted device which could be used by criminals around the world to avoid the detection of police.

The new device, called ANoM, would be billed as a modified mobile phone, stripped of anything which could be compromised and fitted with customised encryption software that made it far more secure than anything else on the market.

The source planned to provide ANoM to an existing network of distributors linked to organised crime groups – but only after it had already been exploited by the FBI.

Within three years, ANoM would be used by its exclusively criminal clientele in 90 countries to send tens of millions of messages, referring to murder plots, drug deals, corruption, and money laundering, including 450,000 images of enormous bundles of cash and cocaine. And all along the FBI and other police forces were listening in.

This is why I have always been suspicious of VPNs and a browser like ToR

I’m always VPNed up and switching between various servers.
I haven’t used ToR for several years after I started getting very tempted by some criminal offers.

Tor has been compromised by the FBI since 2014.
They have 0 day exploits that have never been revealed nor patched

Okay. I respect you guys for that. But what exactly are you hiding? Are you drug traffickers?

Just that I have been an admin in charge if a Linux server running squid, and saw how easy it was to see everybodie’s shit , From my racist boss who had a fetish for big arse black women to all kinds of kinks ! Since then I just don’t trust anonymity on the net !

Not hiding anything. Just trying to keep my stuff private. I know my traffic has been hijacked before.

The majority of people who do all that hiding is because they’re into some seriously sick stuff. Drug dealers, journalists and their secret sources, people into intelligence and legit users who need to keep their trail hidden are just a small fraction compared to pedophiles, people into snuff porn, animal abusers (physical or sexual), human traffickers, cannibals … all of that type of mess.

Honestly, most normal users don’t need to be doing all that. Just learn how to conduct yourself online, especially in the presence of people who might wanna expose you and have the skills to do it.

Dissidents, whistleblowers, journalists, human rights activists and people living under censorship/dictatorship do need that.

Uuuuuuuuuum that’s exactly what I said though.

also in several kenyan firms and school campuses the network administrators block some websites hence the only way you can access them is using a VPN. umeingia lib ama attacho ama job and upon connecting to their wifi and logging in to kenyatalk, you get a website blocked-restricted/error message.

So which one do you use?

Probably Brave

vpn ya nini? hapa kenya unaingia twitter unaambia sean paul yeye ni mtoto ya umbwa na umedownload wimbo zake zote illegally na hakuna kitu utafanyiwa

Hakuna kitu kama anonymity online. You are just too insignificant for the authorities to bother pursuing. Get to Snowden’s level then try hiding from the alphabet agencies with VPNs and proxies. That’s the day you’ll understand why he opted to seek asylum in Russia instead of “going dark” like Mr. Robot.

It’s funny you people think a VPN is to hide from authorities. You forget even @Sambamba right here on kenyatalk poses a serious threat. Even Snowden himself would advice you to never go naked online. The possibilities of attacks you couldface are endless. And what someone can do with access to your data… the sky is the limit.

People didn’t specify what VPN was used for. People only said anonymity online isn’t really possible in this day and age.

Kitu watapata ni fixation ya BBW kwa searches

Encrochat also went down.
