$1 trillion cannot sink the U.S economy. In fact if China was to dump that $1 trillion it will be bought before sunset by other countries and individuals. The Saudis and Japanese would definitely buy a huge chunk of those treasury bonds.
China has dumped a substantial amount of that $1 trillion debt over the past few years to come second after Japan.
