Swaziland changed my view about democracy

I have been holding the view that democracy is necessary for stability and somehow development, but my world view has been changing as I get to learn about many countries. Consider Swaziland a country that is an absolute monarchy led by unelected King who rules over his subjects. But what struck me the most is that Swaziland is more developed and progressive than Kenya. Swaziland has a higher HDI than Kenya and per capita income that is double that of Kenya, which has so called a democratically elected govt, free speech, independent arms of govt whatever.

Consider this, Swaziland King has got no reasons at all to be accountable to its citizens compared to Kenya, but the King reigns well and the citizens has got better quality of life compared to an average Kenyan as per the statistics. Kenya has been having the so called freedom of press, expression, political parties whatever but the same freedom or democracy whatever has not managed to stop successive govts from looting and making an average kenyan poorer. Countries such as Swaziland, Rwanda, morroco, china and others are ruled by kings and unelected govts, but their govts are making huge progress compared to these so called democratic countries like ours.
What is my take? I believe there is no perfect system of government that should be prescribed for any nation. So long as the country’s citizens are okay with their govt, and its working for them that should be it. And that is why Swaziland, Morocco and even China managed to beat us. They adopted a system of govt that was working as per their traditions, culture and history. Maybe had we adopted village elders as a form of govt from all the communites in Kenya and made some few modifications, who knows? maybe it could be working fine because it used to work well before the colonialists came. Right now we are always making changes, such as, 2010 constitution and now BBI whatever and nothing is working because we are just copy pasting models from other countries that may not suit us. Libya was prosperous under Gaddafi until democratization happened and now they are in shambles and war. I also believe and hold an opinion that if China and Russia was made to democratize forcefully by kicking out Putin and CCP everything will break apart.
Conclusion: DEMOCRACY is not the BEST/BETTER form of government. It is an alternative form of government among the other options available. Choose the best system/form of government that works best for you based on your needs, culture and history.

its a tiny country…unfair comparison

Burundi is a also a tiny country similar to Swaziland but it’s more of a shithole

You dont know what you are talking about… And for fastest development then a Benevelent Dictator is what you need… Singapore had a benevelent dictator and Kagame could be seen as one. And as the person said, Eswatini is a small country with a small population… Its in no way comparable to Kenya and has less potential than Kenya…

Kuna factors zingine kama number of tribes and the cohesiveness of said tribes.

E.g the way ukabila affects who becomes the national leader.

All this figures mean nothing to the chap on the ground , remember kenya was ranked very high on air quality and urban planning a country with no cycle lanes and foot paths ,this chaps seem to pull this figures from their arses ’
The other day the monarch bought bentleys for all his wives as the rest of the pop depend on SA and Aid

But HDI is a not about figures. Its about quality of life for the common citizens and it considers all aspects necessary for better human development

Kenya is run by mafia’s who are capitalists to the core, democratic ideals such as the rule of law, one man one vote, freedom of association etc cannot work.

For someone claiming to have very high IQ, this is simply non-reason. Relying on another person’s benevolence to get into any contract is suicidal. there has been many dictators, but how do we measure benevolence in them. There are no benevolent dictators. Its just what works to keep you in power and in the good books of those who matter to you.

I beg to differ. Mafia are not capitalists… True capitalism embraces competition… Mafia stifles it. Mafia are thieves. Steal and add no value. Stagnation… Mafia and Innovate cannot be said in the same sentence… What we have here are thieves…rogues…bandits…not capitalists. The fruit of capitalism is self evident… Companies like Ford…Unilever…Toyota…Samsung…Starbucks… Are fruits of capitalism… In Kenya watu hua tu na pesa and nobody knows where it comes from. Flats mingi. Its just like drug dealing.

Hehe, first where have i ever wrote anything related to my IQ? Quote me where… And there is something that is called ‘‘Benevelent Dictatorship’’ and i gave Lee Kuan Yew of Singapore whom was the prime minister from 1959 to 1990 as an example. He laid the ground work for Singapore and the result is how developed it is today.

Benevolent dictatorship - Wikipedia

Get educated, "There are no benevolent dictators. Its just what works to keep you in power and in the good books of those who matter to you. "

There is a definition called that, you can read it yourself.

Capitalism is actually exploitative, wealth is controlled by a group of people who aggressively protect their interests at all costs and that why the rich keep getting richer and the poor poorer… As for mafia’s, yes they are thieves but organized and extremely shrewd in their dealings so I wouldn’t say that they dont add value or stagnate their “business” ventures, a good example is the Casino industry…
Democracy has failed in Kenya because the mafia (organized thieves… rogues… bandits) are in control and there is no day they will abide by the rule of law…

Development by proximity.
Swaziland is an extension of South Africa.
You don’t expect countries close to rich countries to be poor, unless they are unstable.

nchi ya kabila moja unailinganishaje na nchi ya kabila tofauti au nafasi ya ukabila Sema mtu wetu?

Those countries you have mentioned have something very important in common, They are all national States. We first have to create kenyans before taking the next step.
