Just because Subarus use Boxer engines and Most Toyotas use straight in line 4 or 6 engines doesn’t mean a thing. Toyota is on buying spree of major car manufacturers in Japan.

D4 S is not an ordinary type of Boxer engine. D-4 is basically gasoline direct injection, and D-4S stands for D-4 Superior. D-4S combines both direct injection and conventional port injection for each cylinder which means two injectors per cylinder, or eight injectors if the engine is a 4-cylinder boxer.
Toyota hasn’t fully acquired FHI. But Toyota and Fuji share alot of design specs especially Wind Tunnel tests to enhance fuel efficiency.
FHI is not only involved with Cars. They also make Helicopters and other aeroplane parts

Follow manufacturer’s guidelines. Akisema oil ni SAE kiwango fulani don’t go for cheap low standard oil. Cheap is expensive.
The boxer engine design is prone to excessive oil consumption especially with age. My past history with a subaru was not good. Niliuza bei ya jioni shida za hiyo gari haziishi. Sort one issue another comes up. The AWD does not help matters when it comes to the tyre life
