…I understand where Gadafi is coming from, but I don’t believe that religion necessarily leads to bad governance. It’s possible for leaders to incorporate religious values into their policies while still allowing for open debate and individual freedoms. Additionally, many of the world’s most successful and prosperous nations have strong religious traditions, so I don’t think it’s fair to say that ruling in the name of religion automatically leads to a “hellish” existence for citizens.
