is this a masters, phd or undergrad project I might be able to help, if it’s Kenyan undergrad then Kenyan languages makes sense though getting datasets for kenyan languages is near impossible otherwise if it’s a UK or American university use African languages , why not explore fairness in AI ,an interesting topic too

AI ethical concerns for society. Basically Privacy and surveillanceI, bias and discrimination and most importantly the role of human judgement. It’s a very controversial topic currently esp on the uses. China is using AI to monitor it’s citizens without their approval and big tech such as Google are winning US defence contracts for similar projects. Actually a senior AI researcher Timnit Gebru at Google was fired for airing her opinion on AI ethics last month which helps explain how important ethics are in application of new technologies such as AI. Tech giants are trying to prevent there technologies from being used in warfronts. AI algorithm on healthcare and speech recognition NLP is deeply biased against black people a research found so this is definitely discrimination. And finally who gets to call the shots when it comes on teaching the algorithms the moral social and political aspects.
