I’m wondering why would a handset that has esim capability be ineligible for safaricom esim services, even when the handset has all the necessary frequency bands?
Safaricom customer care agents are some of the most daft people you may find on a job. I called 100 and the lady who picked did not know what esim is!!!
My limited know tells me that a esim smartphone is essentially a dual sim, one physical and the other one digital, where naturally the handset is a single physical sim. Kama iPhones na majority ya simu za kutumika huko America are dual sim if they are esim enabled.
For the pixel only Faiba will give you an esim. Safaricom is into old tactics of supporting devices that they are already selling. I don’t know what their thought process is but I figure out it’s an underhand tactic before competition catches up and then they open up to everyone.
Exactly and you can switch the esim line between providers without any challenges. Asubui inaweza kuwa airtel line jioni telkom without opening your phones sim slot. I am not sure if Kenyan providers will provide all this flexibility.
The market will force safaricom to comply. I think for now they want people to think you have to buy a device from their shop to get an esim. My guess is that safaricom has gone an extra mile to make sure other devices are not compatible. There should be a work around if you have an incompatible device.
