Runway Approaches

I have been seeing several cockpit videos of runway approaches and one thing left me wondering. Why is it that in Nairobi we have that big idle land towards JKIA and yet in big cities like Toronto is is buildings till the airport fence just before the runway?

Hutaki Wamaasai walishe ngombe ??

Because the approach is over nairobi national park, then as you near the airport there is a corridor/path left for any emergency until you get to the runway. The empty area is also important for aircraft security.

I saw a feature about a pilot with scared arms. He took off in a Cessna 172 in Wilson Airport but it had engine problems and stalled. He couldn’t find a place nearby because apartments had encroached airport land so he had to crash the plane in South B.

So security is only applicable in Africa? Check the Saint Maarten approaches where planes literally flies above the people in the beach and it is a tourist attraction

You are one of the reasons why I am convinced Africans, led by Kenyans, are incapable of critical and analytical thought patterns. So kule watu wamejenga karibu na airport hawajui mambo ya security?
This brings me to another upuss ya mwafrika. Anyone can virtually walk up to any govt facility majuu na apige picha but sisi Parliament and state house for example are prohibited zones. Huwezi simama karibu na Parliament before bonobos get on your case.

Hehehehe …
They don’t have Al Shabaab at Saint Maarten …

Haha you have hit the nail on the head. In the US you can take pictures in front of the white house yet huku ata kusimama kidogo wanatumana mariamu

St Maarten ingekuwa Kenya ungesikia vile indiscipline ya bonobos ingekuwa reported kwa wingi.
Mara wameingia kwa runway, wamerushia ndege mawe.
It is all about civilisation
